The 2017 K of C Basketball Free Throw Competitions

The 2017 version of the K of C Basketball Free Throw competitions got under way on February 4 at St. David’s Catholic Secondary School, Waterloo. 118 competitors from Niagara to Owen Sound vied for the rights to compete in the Basketball Free Throw Regional finals Saturday February 25th, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus.  Eager entrants were competing to reach the three top spots. Although the number of participants was somewhat lower than in past years, a large group of friends and family cheered on the kids. A big Thank You goes to Brother Knights Pat McGrath, Chris Pugh, Fernando Melo, Wayne Buchholtz, Tim Ferguson, PGK Brian Schmalz, Sean Meany and from Council 9275 Brother Bill Swan for assisting Council 1504. They were busy on the court, scoring results, distributing the free fleece jackets and servicing the food table. An increase in promotion is planned for next year.
